What are implants?

Implants are simply replacement tooth roots, which provide a strong foundation for a new dental crown made to match your natural teeth.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

  • Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth.
  • Durability: implants are very durable and will last many years. In fact, with good care and for most patients, implants last a lifetime.
  • Unlike other tooth replacement options, implants do not require preparation of other teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge does. This allows Dr. Larhs to leave more of your own teeth intact.
  • Improved oral health. Individual implants allow easier access between teeth for improved oral hygiene.

What’s in involved?

After diagnosis, the process typically is broken into stages involving the placement of the implant, a healing phase and the delivery of the replacement tooth/teeth. Dr. Larhs has extensive training, experience, and a very high success rate with dental implants. Her expertise allows her in most cases to perform the implant procedure from start to finish in our office, including the surgical implantation process.

Bone and Gum Grafting for Implant Success

One of the most common reasons a patient is told they are not a candidate for dental implants is due to a lack of bone support, and/or lack of gingival (gum) tissue. With adjunctive grafting procedures like bone grafting, we can make implant placement possible and predictable in the long-term.  Dr. Larhs is highly skilled in these procedures and she will discuss your options, along with the risks and benefits.
